Great American Mainstreet Award

Main Street Morgantown is the most decorated Main Street in West Virginia, with local, state, and national awards ranging from the “Spirit of West Virginia Award” to the “Governor’s Main Street Award” to the “Great American Main Street Award,” respectively. Below is a list of the achievements for which MSM has received recognition.

2014: MSM receives West Virginia Governor Earl Ray Tomblin's "Certificate of Recognition" for "30 years of outstanding service dedicated to continued revitalization of downtown Morgantown and the Historic Wharf District" & a proclamation from the City of Morgantown honoring Main Street Morgantown on our 30th anniversary.

2013: MSM is awarded West Virginia’s Tourism Star of Industry” & Preservation Alliance of West Virginia’s “Downtown Preservation Award

2012: MSM is awarded West Virginia’s “Outstanding Education Award”

2011: MSM is awarded West Virginia’s Governor's Main Street Award” & “Outstanding Education Award”

2010: MSM is awarded West Virginia’s “Governor's Main Street Award” & “Outstanding Education Award” & received an honorable mention for the “Economic Restructuring Innovation Award”

2009: MSM is awarded West Virginia’s “Outstanding Education Award”

2007: MSM is awarded West Virginia’s “Specific Project Award,” “Outstanding Organization Committee,” “Outstanding Economic Restructuring Committee,” “Outstanding Education Award” & “Best Interior Rehabilitation” for the Dairy Queen Building & classified as one of the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s “America’s Dozen Distinctive Destinations

Main Street Morgantown, an award winning program for over 30 years, is seeking a highly motivated, dynamic, energetic, creative, and organized person to serve as Executive Director.

The successful candidate will be the central figure in assisting with the development and revitalization efforts and will manage all aspects of the operations utilizing the Main Street Four Point Approach TM. This includes administrative duties, community outreach, public relations, fund raising, event planning and coordination, marketing, membership management, and day to day activities. The Executive Director will implement strategic goals for the district and will coordinate with the City of Morgantown, West Virginia University and Monongalia County. This is a full-time position with some after hour events and meetings required. Minimum of 5 years professional leadership experience and salary will be determined and commensurate with experience.
